David Eckmann

David Eckmann joined FPL FiberNet in 2000 as director of business development. He is responsible for the company’s contracts, regulatory compliance, and core business development. Eckmann has been with FPL Group for 23 years, where he has worked in the areas of finance, accounting, strategic planning, and telecommunications. He served as a founding member of the board of the NAP of the Americas, which established in Miami the nation’s most advanced internet network access point. Eckmann serves as treasurer of ITFlorida, a private-public sector partnership that promotes the growth of Florida’s high-tech economy. He also serves on the board of COMPTEL, the organization of competitive telecommunications companies.

Prior to joining FPL Group, he served as an electrical engineer in the design and construction of power plants for Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. and Burns & Roe, Inc.

Eckmann received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Duke University and a master of science degree from the Polytechnic Institute of New York. In addition, he earned a master of business administration degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
